Fire immunity is the rare ability in some people to resist the effects of fire. Many traditional societies practise firewalking on certain occasions; fire immunity other kinds seems to be a feat peculiar to certain individuals. One such person was the Maryland blacksmith Nathan Coker. a report of him placing his feet on red-hot shovel "until the sovel became black" was accepted as true by several researchers; Coker also swilled molten lead in his mouth and held glowing coals and a red-hot poker in his hands.[1]
